Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart said that "“Censorship reflects a society's lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime.” Do you agree or disagree with his opinion? Why?
I agree with Supreme Court Justice Stewart because the majority of people are afraid or don’t want to hear the truth about what is really going on in the world. They prefer to stay in a box in this way they don’t have to think critically. It is also a hallmark on an authoritarian regime because it is only a few people who control everything that we can and cannot read, listen to, or watch. We don’t ask questions anymore and unfortunaly that is the way we are raising children to be. Some of those children will be the next leaders but if they are not open minded then what kind of leaders are we raising. We don’t accomplish anything with censoring books and mostly when it is a reality that we need to face in one way or another. We need to keep in mind that we are all different and our views change and we have to keep in mind all those views in order for us to understand others who don’t view the world how we do!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you as well. It does not give us opportunities to express ourselves and argue about what is right or wrong in our opinions. We tend to just nod and agree, and accept the way things are, and it is exactly what authoritarians want.
People today are very closed minded about new things. It is like we are traveling back in time because we were more acceptable of new things then than we are now. Society needs to think outside of the box and stop turning the clock backward.
